Moose FM CFBG 99.5 - Muskoka

Fire has completely destroyed a cottage on North Bohemia Island on Lake Rosseau. Crews were notified of the fire just after midnight and were able to bring the fire under control at around 3:00am. Fire officials estimate the value of the cottage at up to $5-million dollars. A preliminary investigation suggests the cause was electrical related. No injuries are reported but Muskoka Lakes Fire Chief Richard Hayes says it’s a reminder to cottagers to check electrical wiring in your cottage and check appliances as well.

Hayes adds in this case, there was a monitored fire alarm, therefore crews were able to respond quicker.
