District Council is aiming for a zero percent District tax increase in 2013. A lot hinges on the District Service Review, which will determine what can and can't be cut to save money. Councillor Scott Young doesn’t support the move towards a zero percent increase. He says there are expensive projects coming that will need funding and the tax dollars to do it. Young advocates smooth, steady government that avoids what he calls tax 'peaks and valleys' that see high tax increases one year and low or zilch the next. The 2013 Budget Guidelines motion was approved by a majority of council.
