It's good and bad news for patients receiving chemotherapy treatment in Orillia. The Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital Board voted Tuesday night to change the current clinic in to a Satellite site of the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program in Barrie's Royal Victoria Hospital. Both hospitals will work together to make enhancements, improvements and upgrades to bring the current clinic in Orillia up-to-par. But the current chemotherapy site will be closed for two years beginning this fall to do those upgrades. Services will be moved to Barrie. The hospital serves more than 440,000 residents in North Simcoe and Muskoka. Here in Muskoka, we also have two satellite chemotherapy sites connected to Health Sciences North in Sudbury. The plan still needs endorsement from the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN.
