Innisfil Man Caught Travelling 85km Over the Speed Limit

An Innisfil man had his car impounded Wednesday night after being clocked on a local highway travelling 85km over the speed limit. Bracebridge O.P.P. caught him on highway 11 south of Gravenhurst. The 51-year-old will appear in Bracebridge court in late April to answer to speeding and racing charges. Provincial police remind drivers speed and aggressive driving are the leading causes of traffic collisions and fatalities on Ontario highways.

Good News: Tourism Summit Coming to Muskoka

Muskoka will host the Ontario Tourism Summit this year. The annual three day summit allows tourism leaders the opportunity to share industry ideas and best practices and talk about the latest trends. The event also includes the Ontario Tourism Awards. It will be held at Deerhurst Resort on November 7th through 9th. About 400 delegates attended the last summit in Windsor.

The schedule for the North Muskoka Lightning Minor Midget's Final series against the Lambeth Lancers has been finalized. The best of 5 series begins tomorrow at the Humphrey Arena at 3:00pm and game 2 goes in Lambeth Sunday at 3:45.

You Need to Know: Mumps Cases Up in Simcoe Muskoka

The Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit wants to make sure residents are up to date on their immunizations. That's because the region is seeing an increase in the number of mumps cases. There have been 6 cases of the mumps confirmed in Simcoe Muskoka since September. Normally, there is zero to 3 in one year. While there is no panic, mumps is highly contagious and the health unit is asking anyone who may be experiencing symptoms to contact their family physician or the health unit.
