If you hear fire trucks and sirens, be sure to leave a food donation on your front porch. The 25th annual Huntsville/Lake of Bays Salvation Army Food Drive is on tonight. Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Chief Steve Hernen says it all starts at 6:00pm.
The food drive is one of the Salvation Army’s biggest fundraisers of the year. Hernen says people don’t realize a huge collection happens during a food drive.
If you’re stuck on what you can donate, there are particular items the Salvation Army is always looking for.
The fire department has partnered with the OPP, Emergency Services, the Huntsville Air Cadets, the North Muskoka Motorcycle Riders and community volunteers to make this happen.
If you have little ones who want to see Santa, the man himself will be coming along for the ride.
Meantime, a similar toy drive is also happening in Almaguin Highlands tonight. For full details, go to our Community Events page.
