Five Huntsville town employees have been let go because of enhanced technology. The town announced today, they are creating a one-stop shop service center at Town Hall in order to improve customer service in Huntsville. Mayor Claude Doughty says they’ve highly invested in IT, which has made town services much more efficient.
Meantime, rumours have been going around that it was a move by the mayor to cut anyone against how he governs the town. Doughty says those rumours have no merit.
Doughty says these layoffs along with future job reconstructions will save the town $300,000 per year. The new service centre is expected to be up and running by June, 2012.
