Save the Bala Falls supporters want Muskoka Lakes Council to keep on course in their fight against a controversial hydro plant. This week, several speakers addressed the issue. Some, like Peter Long, a Director of the Muskoka Ratepayers Association, urged council to support Option #2 and meet Swift River Energy halfway. Others like Sandy Currie, President of the Moon River Property Owner’s Association, said a survey showed 93 percent of Township residents approve of council’s fight. Currie received a long applause from the crowd who packed council chambers Monday.

Council’s been asked to seek an extension to Swift River’s addendum public comments deadline of June 29^th, 2012. Mayor Alice Murphy says a staff report’s coming and that council may hold a special meeting before the deadline to address that request.
