District of Muskoka Council is supporting a proposed ban on snapping turtle hunting and harvesting. The resolution comes from the Township of Georgian Bay, where snapping turtles have been known to be hunted. The motion will now go on to the Minister of Natural Resources. The resolution also calls on the MNR to remove the snapping turtle from the permitted 'hunted games' list.
