OPP Wants You to Be Safe on the Water

Provincial Police want you to think about being careful on the water. We're in the middle of Safe Boating Awareness Week. North Bay OPP would hope that you keep a few things in mind this summer, before you hit Trout Lake or any other body of water. Life jackets only work if you wear them, alcohol can be as deadly on the water as it is on the road, and weather should always be taken into consideration before untying the lines.

Controversial Breast Screening Test Not Used at North Bay General Hospital

A certain type of breast screening is coming under fire for being less effective, but the North Bay General Hospital says it does not use that type of testing. The screening is called "computed radiography", or CR. But officials say it's not utilized here.

New Seminar Series at North Bay Public Library

The North Bay Public Library is reaching out to offer information to the community in a new format. Their new seminar series is called "Got an Hour", and focuses on providing helpful information. Tonight the topic will be the intricacies of wills and power of attorney. The cost is just $3, to cover the cost of presenting and the room. It starts at 7:00pm in the newly renovated auditorium.

New Training Tool for PSWs in North Bay

Personal Support Workers have a new way to learn in North Bay. Canadore College has added a virtual apartment suite that allows PSW students to practice real world care for the elderly in a realistic setting. The improvement was made possible by $200,000 in provincial funding.

Red Cross Looking for Volunteers

The North Bay Red Cross office is hoping you might want to join their team. The local Red Cross is seeking volunteers to serve as drivers with their Seniors Transportation Program. If you'd like to help them help the elderly, you can call the local office, or contact through email.
