Northern Ontario Bridge Named After Fallen OPP Officer

E-mail Print PDF

The province is dedicating a bridge on Highway 17 west of North Bay to a fallen OPP officer.   The Little Sturgeon River Bridge will be named after constable William Smith.   Smith died 30 years ago in his cruiser.  He was chasing a vehicle when he made a U-turn and was hit by another vehicle.   Memorial signs are now up at both sides of the bridge honouring Smith.
