At least 100 people took part in a rally Wednesday afternoon at the Ontario Northland train station in North Bay. The Northlander picked up and dropped off passengers along the way from Cochrane making people aware of the McGuinty Liberals drive to sell off the ONTC. One passenger was Cochrane mayor Peter Politis. Politis says McGuinty is insulting northerners by ignoring their pleas not to sell the ONTC, but he says in a way McGuinty's silence might be a good thing. Politis says we’re seeing mobilization taking place in the North and maybe this will help the North organize to defend their interests. He hopes it doesn't come to it, but eventually northerners might have to take their fight to save the ONTC to Queen's Park.
