A crate of oranges delivered to MPP Vic Fedeli’s office on June 11th is part of a rally by labour and community groups protesting Schedule 28 from Bill 55. A lawyer with Sack Goldblatt Mitchell LLP analyzed the Schedule 28 and said it would allow for just about any crown corporation or service to be privatized without going to the legislature for debate or vote, basically allowing for a lot of back room deals. CUPE Ontario Vice President Henri Giroux says this legislation would move government away from being transparent and accountable. The oranges being delivered are to represent the ORNGE air ambulance scandal. More information from the analysis can be found at cupe.on.ca/budget.
