The Northlander train comes to a hault on September 28^th as the Liberal plan to sell-off the ONTC kicks into high gear. One of the last riders will be the NDP MPP for Timiskaming-Cochrane, John Vanthoff. And Vanthoff has invited cabinet minister Madeleine Meilleur to join him on that final ride. A few days ago Meilleur said students should get cars in response to criticism that the Liberals are killing the service before students come home for Thanksgiving. Vanthoff wants the minister to ride the Northlander so she gets a better understanding of why the north needs the government-run service.
