There’s a new way to stay fit in Timmins. It’s called Bounce Fitness and it aims to ramp up working out, while taking some of the pain out of it. Danielle Labonté, winner of the 2012 Female Young Professional award, says this form of exercising was designed by an Australian runner who suffered severe injuries. Labonté says the Kangoo Boots take about 85-percent of the impact out of traditional exercising and burns considerably more calories at the same time. Labonté added the boots into her current training program, Zumba and already it’s gotten a huge response. She gave a demonstration at the downtown Urban Park recently.
Danille’s Zumba Fitness and Training is taught at Sacred Heart School on Cedar Street South, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30-to-7:30pm. Summer classes are at the Legion in South Porcupine every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00-7:00pm. Classes cost $60 per month, $70 for a 10-pass, that never expires and $10 for individual classes. The Kangoo Boots classes are $40 with your own boots and $60 with rentals and it’s first come first served.
For the summer, there are some special classes at Gilles Lake every Monday from 7:45-to-8:30pm. The first session is July 9th to 30th and the second from August 6th to 27th. And in South Porcupine in the parking lot of the White Water Park every Tuesday from 7:15-to-8:00pm with two sessions; from July 10th to 31st, then August 7th to 28th.
