A well-known broadcaster and communications professional are set for an evening of dispelling the stigma around mental health issues. Northern College is pleased to host “Removing the Stigma – an Evening with Valerie and Catherine Pringle.” The event takes place on Wednesday, October 3rd from 6:00-to-8:30pm. The Canadian Mental Health Association Cochrane/Temiskaming Branch and Northern Tel understand that the only way to break the stigma of mental health is to educate and increase awareness and that’s exactly why they chose the mother/daughter team to speak.
Valerie Pringle is one of Canada's best known and most respected broadcasters, public figures and volunteers. Her daughter, Catherine, is a communications professional and advocate for the increased awareness of and support for those suffering from mental health issues. Having suffered from severe anxiety and depression, she is extremely passionate about the cause. The event will be held at Northern College Porcupine Campus and proceeds from ticket sales will go toward supporting an online resource designed to be of immediate assistance to students with mental health disabilities. Northern College Student Association (NCSA) is currently working on the development of this support service.
Tickets will be available for $20 each at the following locations:
Canadian Mental Health Association - 330 Second Ave, Suite 201; McDonalds Pharmacy - 67 Bruce Street; Northern College - 4715 Highway 101 East; Timmins Square Customer Service Booth - 1500 Riverside Drive; Daily’s Independent Grocer - 654 Algonquin Blvd. East and Shoppers Drug Mart - 227 Algonquin Boulevard West.
