Timmins Police are disappointed that the messgae of "don't drink and drive" isn't getting through to people. Yet again, two more people have been charged with impaired driving, bringing the total number of investigations into drunk driving, to nine over a two week period. Also in that time, five arrests have been made and 14 charges laid. Both incidents involved males, one from Connaught, the other from South Porcupine and were within one hour of each other, early Friday morning. Police are warning the public that enforcement is set to increase further under the Operation Impact initiative, which means regular patrols are going to be adjusted over and above normal. Police are calling this an "alarming criminal activity."

At 2:32am, 23-year-old Steven Joshua Sears of Connaught was arrested at Main Street and Shamrock Avenue in South Porcupine. Sears is charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Exceed 80mg Blood Alcohol Content. Sears is to appear in Provincial Court on Tuesday, October 2nd.
At 3:31am, 20-year-old Brandon Michael Diamond of South Porcupine was arrested on Rae Hill. He's charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Exceed 80mg Blood Alcohol Content. Diamond is to also to appear in Provincial Court on Tuesday, October 2nd.
