Mayor Tom Laughren has signed off that the month of November be Diabetes Month. It’s an important time for the Canadian Diabetes Association as it gives them the opportunity to grow awareness for the disease that can strike anyone, at any time. Julie St. Onge, branch coordinator for the CDA says part of that awareness are a pair of fundraising events to support local programs helping to treat and educate about diabetes. First up on November 10th; the 7th Annual Wines of the World Gala and secondly, a third-party sponsored raffle by Imerys Talc on November 27th.
To learn more about diabetes and find programs in the area that support those with diabetes, go to the Canadian Diabetes Association’s website at www.diabetes.ca or call St. Onge at (705) 267-1191.
The Canadian Diabetes Association will be hosting their 7th Annual Wines of the World Gala fundraiser for Diabetes at the Dante Club. The event includes a six-course meal paired with fine wines from around the world. The evening will also include vintage wine tasting, a live and silent auction followed by entertainment. The money raised from this even will stay in the community to support the work of the Canadian Diabetes Association. Tickets are $100.00 each.
