Empire Tavern owner Nancy Siebert came to the Moose FM studios to show off the summer crush concert staring Karl Wolf. The concert has now opened to everyone as Nancy says, she has had so many calls from parents whose children are wanting to go to the concert. So now they can. The concert is set for the Sports Palace in Kapuskasing on Saturday June 9th. The doors open at 7:00pm.

Volunteers Recognized for Service

This evening in volunteers from around the area are being honoured for their dedication and volunteerism to their communities. Volunteers from Hearst, Mattice-Val Cote, Val Rita, Kapuskasing, Smooth Rock Falls, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls will be recognized. Service awards for up to 40 years of volunteering will be handed out at the Day’s Inn ceremony tonight beginning at 7:30pm. Tonight’s ceremony is one of 48 across the province recognizing the dedication of people to a single organization throughout the province.

More Good News for Cochrane

It’s another piece of good news for Cochrane. Mayor Peter Politis has announced that another television series will be produced at the town’s new production facility beginning with the first snow this fall. The new project is called Snowdium and it’s centered around a determined entrepreneur who hears the whisper of a voice while playing hockey at the Tim Horton Arena. The series could employ 30 local people and will also use the streets of Cochrane as a backdrop.

Young Driver Tries to Elude Police

An 18-year-old Cochrane resident isn’t going to be driving for a little while. The Iroquois Falls OPP stopped a car that was driving in excess of the speed limit when the driver took off and lost control of his car on a curve. The OPP found out that the driver only had a G1 driver’s license and now faces numerous charges including evading police. The car has been impounded and his license suspended for a week. The 18-year-old will be in court in Timmins at the end of July.
