The man who will lead the public inquiry into a mall collapse in Elliot Lake will be in the community next month. Commissioner Paul Belanger and inquiry lawyers will visit the community around mid August. The visit at this point is designed to give residents a chance to meet Belanger and the other lawyers. However when the full blown inquiry begins, it will look at what policies and procedures were in place in connection with the Algo Centre Mall’s safety and structural integrity. It will also examine the events surrounding the June 23rd partial roof-top cave-in that killed two women and injured 20 other people.
