The OPP have finished examining the rubble of the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake where two women died in June. Control of the mall is now in the hands of the Ministry of Labour. The owner’s insurance company will take responsibility of the site once the ministry completes its investigation. People will have to contact the insurance company to get back their belongings in the partially collapsed building. In addition to the police investigation, the province will hold a public inquiry into the disaster beginning in January.
