The OPP has a new partner to help speed up the process in finding missing or kidnapped children. Ontario's AMBER Alert program has joined forces with OnStar. OnStar will transfer Amber Alert data into its call center's geographical mapping system and then share that information to the company’s more than four hundred and 30 thousand subscribers. OPP Commissioner Chris Lewis says the more partnerships and investigative tools available, the greater chance they have to save the precious life of a child in Ontario. This partnership coincides with National Missing Children's Day, happening this Saturday, which will focus on stranger abductions.

The province is opening a training facility in Sault Ste. Marie for water bomber pilots. This innovative centre will allow pilots to train in the province instead of being sent to the US for training. The facility simulates the sights, sounds and motions of the CL-415 water bombers that are used in fighting forest fires in Ontario. The centre will provide long term, cost effective solutions for managing forest fires and will attract pilots from other areas to train and support the local economy.

Canadian Tire Employees Thwart Theives

Observant employees at Canadian Tire in Kapuskasing have helped to bring justice to the store. While on a break in the afternoon on Tuesday staffers noticed the odd actions of a driver with his car. The driver was trying to get up the hill behind the mall, with little success. After watching for a little while the staffers became suspicious so they decided to help out and try to stop the car. The car was damaged as it came crashing down the hill in an attempt to get away. One quick-thinking employee was able to chase them to a stop light where he was able to get a picture of the license plate. The investigation into the theft of gardening items continues. Store owner Ghislain Ledu says there’s more damage to the car than the cost of the items taken.
