Public transport is set to improve in Hamilton with 41 new buses about to hit the roads. The buses, which were paid for in part by the Federal Gas Tax Fund and the city's transit reserves, will replace old buses in the city. Apart from being more reliable and safer, the new vehicles are also more environmentally-friendly. They're mini-hybrid models, and are equipped with the latest emissions technology and consume less fuel than older models. Hamilton Mayor Bob Bratina says he hopes residents will leave their cars at home and start taking public transit more often.
