Barrett Speaking Out Against Strike Threat by Local Teachers

Hits

Haldimand Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett is calling the strike threat by local teachers a poor strategy.  Local education bargaining units have voted overwhelming in favour of a strike, something Barrett says would be illegal to do under new legislation introduced by the McGuinty government.  Barrett says teachers have an issue with the government and they shouldn’t take their frustration out on parents and children.  Barrett says McGuinty has an obligation to negotiate collective bargaining agreements and he foolishly left new contracts for teachers to the last minute.
