Many homeowners in the Parry Sound area have already received their new property assessments in the mail and found an increase. Parry Sound's Municipal Relations Representative for MPAC Terrilynne Bannon says residential property values have increased by an average of approximately 11.4 per cent in Parry Sound municipalities since 2008 which translates to a 1.5 percent increase with the four-year phase in. Waterfront property in the Parry Sound area has increased in value by approximately 11.9 per cent and with the four-year phase-in, property taxpayers will see an average increase of 1.8 per cent for the 2013 property tax year. Property owners can check the accuracy of their assessment at www.aboutmyproperty.ca and if they believe their assessment is not correct, they have the option of filing a Request for Reconsideration until April 1st and MPAC will review their assessment free of charge.
