New Trees Along Horne Lake Destroyed

Elliot Lake OPP report that the worksite along highway 108 at Horne Lake was vandalized. A work crew discovered that a number of recently planted trees had been up rooted and broken. Flower boxes placed along the railing of the Miners Monument were smashed. Police say the estimated cost of damage is two and a half thousand dollars. 9 one-foot tall trees, 3 White Pines, 6 Balsam Firs, three 3-metre Ash trees and four 4-metre Birch trees were all destroyed. Police believe the damage occurred between Friday June 26 at 5:30 p.m. and Monday June 29 at 8:00 a.m.  Anyone with information about the mischief is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
