The Algo Mall roof collapse in Elliot Lake is expected to have many economic repercussions. Several business were wiped out and hundreds of people were instantly unemployed. Work is already in place to relocate many of the businesses including the major players such as Foodland. The Chamber of Commerce has been working behind the scenes to get support and assistance to displaced businesses and those who suddenly lost their jobs. The Chamber is trying to set up temporary retail spaces, they're working with financial institutions to establish interest-free financing and also working with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to develop and implement a community adjustment program.
