MPP Disputes Claim ONTC Sale Saves Money

Hits

The Tory MPP for Nipissing is disputing a McGuinty Liberal claim that selling Ontario Northland will save money.  Vic Fedeli says long-term employees will get severances amounting to 14 years and that works out to $450-million.  Fedeli says this is just another in the long list of hidden costs he’s found as the Liberals try to unload the ONTC.  Other hidden costs the MPP has uncovered include an unfunded pension liability that could hit $200-million and subsidizing whoever takes over the bus routes.  Fedeli now wants the auditor general to investigate the Liberal claim that privatizing Ontario Northland really saves money.
